The road to the top of Haleakala has much to offer the traveler. It winds through the various microclimates. Vegetation and colors change with the elevation. Artists and those who appreciate scenic beauty find much to enjoy here. You'll find us stopping along the way to gaze and admire, picnic or paint. At one point on the road just below the Kula Lodge at the right time of year, you will pass though a gauntlet of jacaranda trees in full bloom. I affectionately call this area Lavender Passage.
